Summer Fun

It is incredibly hot in Arizona in the summer, so we have to find ways to keep ourselves occupied and as much out of the heat as possible. One way is to meet the local wildlife!

Or to catch a fish!  (McKay has actually caught a ton of fish in his life--it's like they can't wait to see him).

Perhaps play a little minute-to-win-it (Logan won!)

Although McKay put up a good fight.

Then we go to about any story time available.

Logan's not a big fan of the Wizard of Oz, but he sure likes lions!

We also did the library summer reading program--which has a superhero theme.  It didn't take us long to finish all of our reading.

We hit the movies with Julie every week.

And McKenna stole everyone's shoes.  All. Summer. Long.

There were many days we went to the splashpad to cool off.

And made sure to style appropriately.

The library Star Wars day was amazing! We had yoda soda, pretzel light sabers, and played some games.

The boys also had a little Summer Camp program. Pirate day was particularly fun.

To encourage reading I started a family Book Club.  This summer we all read the Lightning Thief.  It was sweet to hear their ideas on the book.

This is the before picture.  The after picture is not so smiley.

Of course, no summer would be complete without dressing up like a cow on Cow Appreciation Day.

McKenna practiced her wave to get ready for the Fourth of July Kids Parade.

I let the boys each have a day on the climbing wall.  They scaled right up it just like little monkeys.

They attacked the wall.  Since it was indoors and I was sitting, I was okay with them climbing until they tired themselves out.

All in all a successful summer break!

Logan and McKenna

McKenna loves Logan.  He is always willing to drop his toys and play with her, give her rides, or pick her up.

She loves to cuddle with him and play with (steal) his toys.

I love watching these two together!

Karate!

We completed another semester of karate!  The boys passed their fourth cata, so they were excited. Loren joined them this semester, and quickly progressed to a blue belt.  McKay is now a purple belt with a white strip and Logan is a purple belt.  They look very ferocious when completing their forms!

McKenna's Daily Life

Since McKenna is with me all day long we have many opportunities to hang out and take pictures.  Here are some things we do all week:

Buy presents for Julie

Get the oil changed

Take many, many, many car rides

Go to the library for new books

Take baths

Make messes

Go to the park

Help with errands

Go on walks

Do our shopping

Meet Dad for lunch

Try spaghetti

Take selfies

Go to the Doctor

Contemplate our next move

Lego Fest!

We really do have great kids.  They are kind, and smart, and well-behaved. So we decided to surprise them one day.  We all loaded into the car and headed to Glendale, but we didn't tell them why.  It didn't take too many huge Lego Darth Vaders to realize we were at Lego Fest!

We had four hours to build, play games, and check out the models.  McKay, off course, found a panda.

Star Wars was a big hit with our group as well.

We did some Lego Mountain snow angels.

And everywhere McKenna looked she saw stuff she could fit in her mouth!

I promise she wanted the pink ones!

Spring Concert

Look at this little cutie!  The boys both had spring concerts, focusing on Americana.  One good thing about having such little ones is that we always get a great view. McKay was a little shy, but gamely sang on.

For the second year in a row Logan was selected as the narrator.  Look how cute he is in his hat! he did a great job with his part.

Logan is a bit more outgoing as a singer, he had all of his hand motions down and was ready to sing.  I think they have my talent for music, but they sure look cute!

So this happened

Note to self:  If you are already running late for church, don't leave the shower running while you grab a towel.  Sigh.

Spring Soccer!

Hi!  I'm McKenna!  I make soccer games fun!

Fall soccer was a good experience this year.  So good, in fact, that Loren decided he was up for spring soccer.  For the first time we tried spring ball. It was not as hot as I would have guessed, we actually even got some rain.

The muddy practices were actually their favorites.  We had an okay season, I believe we won more than we lost.  The boys learned a lot, and we all got to get out in the sun and enjoy the Arizona spring.

The boys are starting to get more aggressive, and want to be in the mix more.  Logan got his first goal on the big field!  We were so proud!
