Pinewood Derby!

Ah, scouts.  A right of passage for many an 8-year-old boy.  This year Logan decided to focus on speed, not style.  He even had some help from a real life engineer, his uncle Paul.

McKenna was very helpful at the weigh-in.

I think the boy's had the most support in the room. They had grandparents, aunts and uncles cheering them on.

McKay got to race in the sibling race.  He is excited to race in the "real" race next year.  Notice the green, aerodynamic awesomeness.

Logan took this race very seriously.

And it paid off!  He won first place in his age division.

Although fun, the day did get long.  We had to resort to some pretty desperate measures to keep princesses happy.

The top three finishers!  Logan was so excited with his little trophy.  Nice work, buddy!

Easter Fun!

For the first 8 years of Logan's life he didn't know that people actually dyed Easter eggs.  I liked it that way.  But someone told!  Curses!  So this year I had to cave.  We dyed Easter eggs.

Had I known they liked it so much, maybe I would have done it earlier!

Later, we had an Arizona Easter egg hunt, complete with cactus traps.  The boys had great fun running around.  It only took them ten minutes to cover the outside and downstairs.  The Easter Bunny was over toys this year, so she brought games for the boys and a sparkly soccer ball for the ball-stealing McKenna.

Even Loren got in on the decorating action.  Unfortunately, I think there is still one of these eggs in the fridge.  It is only July.  It should still be good.  Right, guys?

Everyone did pretty well sharing the loot.

Except for this one!  She only would pick up the pink ones, and then ran from anyone who tried to catch her--they might take her eggs.  She learned the sign for "more" very quickly when there were jelly beans involved.

Logan found the lucky big egg!  We had church and ham to finish the day.  Good times, people.  Good times.
